Horigin

FAQ: Your questions, our answers

Why analyze the brand rather than each model?

Because brands don't always disclose the origin for every single model. By analyzing the brand as a whole, we give you an overall picture of its local commitment.

A brand might have one model that's 90% French and another that's 30%. The Minimum floor (30%) and Maximum potential (90%) reflect that diversity, while the Horigin index gives a balanced score.

Why penalize undisclosed components?

Because transparency is at the heart of what we do. A brand that doesn't disclose where its components come from can't claim a good score, even if some are actually made locally. Our goal is to push brands toward more transparency, so you can choose with confidence.

Can I weight components differently?

Absolutely! By default, every component carries the same weight, but you can adjust their importance in your account settings.

Because at Horigin, you have the final say.

How does weighting by importance affect the indicators?

Weighting amplifies the impact of the components that matter to you.

If Movement is set to "Vital" (weight 3) and Design to "Indifferent" (weight 0):

  • Movement will count 3 times more than the other components.
  • Design won't count at all in the calculation of the 3 indicators.
